Intuit and Startup Canada Unite to make Canada a Leader in Entrepreneurship

OTTAWA, October 5th – Intuit Canada, a well-known leader of business and financial management solutions for small businesses, will join Startup Canada on Oct. 18 as a co-presenting partner of the fifth annual Startup Canada Day on the Hill.

Startup Canada Day on the Hill is the largest annual gathering of entrepreneurs, innovators, anchor companies, investors, industry leaders, media and government decision-makers to raise the bar in building Canada as an innovative, entrepreneurial nation.

Expected to draw over 2,000 attendees to the Shaw Centre in downtown Ottawa, Startup Canada Day on the Hill will bring together some of Canada’s top entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and government officials to discuss and promote policies to support startup and small business growth.

Up-and-coming entrepreneurs will also be inspired to grow and innovate with cutting-edge insights from world-class speakers; have a voice to government on the future of entrepreneurship and innovation in Canada; and be plugged into national and global networks to find mentors, investors, customers, and support to grow their business.

“Entrepreneurs are the backbone of Canada’s economy and Startup Canada continues to play an essential role in helping our nation’s entrepreneurs thrive,” said Jeff Cates, President of Intuit Canada. “We’re proud to be partnering with Startup Canada for the fifth year in a row as we continue in our shared efforts to build an environment where businesses, governments and startup organizations can work together to fuel entrepreneurial success.”

At Startup Canada Day on the Hill, Intuit is working alongside Startup Canada to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to meet with Members of Parliament, Parliamentary Standing Committees and Ministers to discuss the future of Canada as an entrepreneurial nation.

“Startup Canada and Intuit have a longstanding partnership built on a joint commitment to advance economic growth and competitiveness through entrepreneurship,” said Victoria Lennox, CEO of Startup Canada. “As technology evolves to provide productivity gains for entrepreneurs in all areas of business, safeguarding our businesses by remaining on the leading edge of innovation and entrepreneurship, is important for startups and large enterprises alike. This is a domain where Canada can lead and one which requires government, industry and the entrepreneur sector to work together.”

This year, Intuit will share industry insights on a panel featuring Hon. Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business and Export, will be the presenting sponsor of the ‘Startup Boot camp’ on the Scale-Up Stage and will join Startup Community Leaders from across Canada to encourage the government of Canada to foster an environment and culture for entrepreneurial success.

Intuit has partnered with Startup Canada since 2013. Together, the organizations have worked to reach millions of Canadians online and have directly trained and supported more than 50,000 entrepreneurs in more than 50 communities across Canada. Together Intuit and Startup Canada have fueled national dialogues through grassroots startup communities, mainstream media and digital events.
