Startup Canada is a grassroots network of entrepreneurs working together to build an environment for entrepreneurship in Canada. Since launching in May 2014, Startup Canada has become the leading entrepreneurship organization in Canada – with more than 80,000 entrepreneurs, 400 partners, 300 volunteers and 20 local startup communities. Through online platforms, grassroots Startup Communities and cross-sector initiatives, Startup Canada is advancing entrepreneurial momentum and a culture of entrepreneurship, as the voice of Canadian entrepreneurs.

Startup Canada Communities is a network of local startup hubs in cities and towns across Canada, and a powerful suite of practical support for entrepreneurs who are making their communities great places to start and grow companies.

A startup community hub is the water-cooler for local entrepreneurs.

It’s a place, physical or virtual, where entrepreneurs can find each other, learn about support and opportunities available to them, keep up-to-date on their field and what’s happening locally, and feel supported and understood by the people around them.

We’re moving beyond geography to build a community of communities.

The Startup Communities program is the hub for a growing network of entrepreneurs and economic development leaders who are building community.  Community builders in our program get advice from each other, share tools and ideas, and support each other through online discussions, regular group conference calls, and whenever we can, in-person meetings. We also give everyone a head start on their journey with case studies, guidance documents, and expert community-building advice.

Startup Canada provides wheels so communities don’t have to reinvent them.

We provide official Startup Canada Communities with a website, branding kits, templates, interesting content they can share locally, promotional support, and other common tools so community builders don’t need to develop them from scratch. Our program accelerates the development of strong startup hubs by giving dedicated community builders a powerful vehicle for creating change that improves the success of local entrepreneurs.

We’re working with more than 20 communities across Canada, including:

Calgary
Edmonton
Fredericton
Nanaimo
Waterloo
Winnipeg
Langford
London
Montreal
Niagara
Ottawa
York
Prince George
Quebec
Sault Ste. Marie
Smithers
St. John’s
