This year millions of entrepreneurs will launch a new venture. Will yours be one that succeeds – or will you wish you were told not to quit your day job?
A new book by Sean Wise and Brad Feld, both entrepreneurs and investors, reveals their process for determining which startups are worth the money, and which will amount to little more than ashes from dragon fire.
Wise and Feld are celebrating the launch of the book, called Startup Opportunities: Know When to Quit Your Day Job, with a five-city book tour that includes a business competition to find the next great Canadian startup.
Want to put your business to the test? This tour is hitting Winnipeg, Waterloo, Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal March 23-27, and will also include fireside chats with Feld and Dr. Wise, networking, and complementary copies of Startup Opportunities for attendees.
Companies participating in the business competition have the opportunity to win a $25,000 investment prize from Dr. Wise’s venture fund, Ryerson Futures, as well as incubation time at the Ryerson Digital Media Zone. The top student company winner will win a trip out to Dr. Wise in Toronto, as well as a board meeting and dinner with Dr. Wise. Winners will be announced following the conclusion of the tour. More information about the pitch competition can be found here.
