Celebrating & Growing Entrepreneurship through Startup Communities

sparks_street_logoStartup Canada and the Sparks Street Business Improvement Association (BIA) are working together again this year to celebrate entrepreneurship as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week in the lead up to the Startup Canada #EveryEntrepreneur Tour stop in the Capital on November 17.

Uniquely positioned near Parliament Hill and numerous federal government departments in downtown Ottawa, Sparks Street is a mixture of small and micro business, government and a place to bring the community together. Startup Canada is proud to have recently moved our HQ to the historic address 56 Sparks St.

Entrepreneurship Empowers Everyone

Entrepreneurship drives competitiveness, innovation, job creation, economic growth, and fuels healthy and sustainable communities.

There are more than 2.3 million entrepreneurs in Canada and more than 1 million small businesses that employ 48 percent of Canada’s total workforce, account for 25 percent of total exports, and provide 30 percent of Canada’s total GDP. Of those small businesses, 4.7 percent are classified as high-growth enterprises and are responsible for 45 percent of new job creation in Canada.

The rate at which we can produce major entrepreneurial successes is directly correlated to the presence of a strong and connected entrepreneurship community and culture in order to create a fertile environment for business growth.

Startup Communities Grow Strong Entrepreneurs

Startup Communities are entrepreneur-led networks and hubs that provide entrepreneurs with a welcoming, encouraging and active community to connect into in order to start and grow their ventures and offer assistance to speed access to support already available.

Join us in celebrating Canadian entrepreneurship on November 17th at the the Algonquin Commons Theatre presented by Intuit Canada and TruShield Insurance for the Startup Canada #EveryEntrepreneur Tour and 2015 Ontario Startup Canada Awards.
