Q: Where do funds come from?

The Ecosystem Investment Fund receives contributions from Startup Canada’s Communications and Event Services and from dedicated sponsored funds.

Q: What is the frequency of the funding allocations?

This program is currently in its first pilot with the intention that it open every Spring and Autumn on a bi-annual basis.

Q: What is the maximum allocation for the pilot?

Grants are available up to $3,000.

Q: What are the key timelines?

For Autumn 2015, intake of applications will begin September 1, 2015, with a deadline of September 30, 2015. Adjudication takes place the first two weeks of October 2015, with grant funding announced the beginning of November 2015.

Q: Who will adjudicate the applications?

The applications will be adjudicated by Startup Canada’s CEO, Board, Community Leaders and contributing corporate partners.

Q: What can Catalyst grants be used for?

Grants are to be used for community building and not include hiring staff or creating employment opportunities with Startup Communities.

Q: What are the requirements of receiving funding?

The use of #StartupCanada in promotions of the initiative or program and the recognition of Startup Canada as a sponsor/partner is required. The project must be completed within 6 months of the decision. Documentation of the program through photographs or videos and the project completion impact report must be submitted at the end of the term.
