March 8, 2019, Ottawa – Startup Canada, Canada’s entrepreneurship organization, in partnership with the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and Scotiabank, announced today Komal Minhas, Founder of kaur. space as the new host of THRIVE, Canada’s women’s entrepreneurship podcast. THRIVE supports women entrepreneurs to start and scale their businesses by connecting them with influential experts, resources, and organizations in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

THRIVE launched in 2018 and was previously hosted by Janice McDonald, the president of The Beacon Agency and the author of A Force to Reckon With: Women, Entrepreneurship and Risk, a national study that evaluates women entrepreneurs and their approach to risk.

THRIVE is in its second year after a successful first year where featured guests such as Laura Didyk, Vice President, Alberta South of BDC and Vicki Saunders, Founder and CEO of SheEO took to the platform to share the ways in which they support women entrepreneurs to scale thriving businesses. As the second season unveils, listeners will hear from guests such as Kerlande Mibel, Founder of the International Black Economic Forum; Erin Bury, formerly  of 88 Creative and a Top 30 Under 30; and Kylie Woods, the Founder and CEO of Chic Geek YYC.

“I am so excited to build on the momentum created by Janice McDonald and the first season of the THRIVE Podcast in telling the stories and sharing resources for women in business,” said Komal Minhas, Founder of kaur. space. “In my career, I’ve discovered there is nothing more powerful than community to help build resilience and tenacity in individuals when building something new and facing our greatest challenges in business and life. The THRIVE Podcast is the community that we need to collectively continue the momentum forward to better the lives of female business owners and our customers and clients. I’m so excited for what’s ahead!”

THRIVE will air every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. EST at startupcan.ca/thrivepodcast.
