Scotiabank joins Startup Canada to recognize top entrepreneurs at the Fifth Annual Startup Canada Awards
May 4th, 2018 – Scotiabank has joined Startup Canada, the national rallying community and voice for Canada’s entrepreneurs, to celebrate and champion Canada’s leading entrepreneurs at the Fifth Annual Startup Canada Awards. Scotiabank is the title sponsor for the Startup Canada Entrepreneur of the Year Award, awarded to individual entrepreneurs who have impacted Canadian entrepreneurship through the leadership of their companies and their engagement in the entrepreneurship community.
Every year, the Awards attract hundreds of nominations; celebrate dozens of entrepreneurs, innovators, and support organizations from coast-to-coast-to-coast; and attract more than 1,500 attendees and 4,000 online viewers at regional and national ceremonies.

Grassroots Regional Awards ceremonies will be hosted by entrepreneur support partners in cities across Canada this Spring. The Awards ceremony schedule is as follows:
- June 7 | Atlantic Region, hosted by Startup Miramichi in Miramichi, NB
- June 13 | Québec Region, hosted by La Gare in Montreal, QC
- June 20 | Ontario Region, hosted by Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation in Sault Ste Marie, ON
- October 18 | Grand Finale hosted by Startup Canada in Ottawa, ON
Startup Canada will also travel across Northern Canada to celebrate the winners of the Startup Canada Awards in the Territories.
Recipients join the prestigious Startup Canada Awards Alumni Network, a platform to elevate winners’ ongoing impact for Canada and to provide inspiration for the next generation of Canadian entrepreneurs.
