OTTAWA, NOVEMBER 12, 2014 – UPS Canada will join Startup Canada on Nov. 26 to facilitate collaboration between entrepreneurs and political decision makers.

UPS Canada is a proud sponsor of Startup Canada Day on the Hill, the most influential entrepreneurship event in the country moving the bar forward on innovative approaches and policies to advance entrepreneurship, innovation and growth in Canada.

The annual event was first held in 2013, and this year is set to draw more than 1,000 attendees to the Chateau Laurier, including some of Canada’s top entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders, media personalities and government decision makers.

“UPS Canada believes it is important for entrepreneurs to be aware of policy changes that could impact their ability to succeed, both positively and negatively,” said Paul Gaspar, small business director, UPS Canada. “We will, through our involvement in Day on the Hill, engage startups in the policy shaping process and educate them on other important factors like tapping into international markets, changing customer expectations and how a well defined supply chain ensures business success.”

UPS Canada is hosting and participating in an Entrepreneur Bootcamp, where attendees will gain insights from the founders of some of Canada’s fastest growing companies and sharpen their knowledge of a startup’s financial, legal, insurance and logistical considerations. UPS Canada will also be making a major announcement at the event.

“Startup Canada is grateful for UPS Canada’s support at Day on the Hill,” said Startup Canada CEO Victoria Lennox. “Organizations like UPS are contributing to the rising momentum and support behind the development of a strong entrepreneurial culture in Canada.”

The day-long event is punctuated with keynote talks from leading entrepreneurs, meetings with Members of Parliament, live mentorship and focus groups that will contribute to the formation of policy recommendations in the areas of: entrepreneur support, education, finance, mentorship, acceleration, innovation, growth, global markets, social enterprise, and newcomer, women, youth and aboriginal entrepreneurship. The day will be topped off with a celebratory reception with entrepreneurs from across Canada showcasing and selling their innovative products.

Throughout the event, Startup Canada will also be making a number of announcements that have implications on Canada’s local startup communities and the national entrepreneurship ecosystem.
