Noreen Hoskins
Manager, TEC Edmonton

TEC Edmonton is a unique non-for-profit enterprise that became a ratified joint venture in 2006 between Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and the University of Alberta.  A business accelerator, TEC Edmonton offers expertise, resources, and connections.

TEC Edmonton helps navigate the commercialization process - transitioning science solutions into business opportunities. Our team has the knowledge and experience to evaluate and protect a tech invention, as well as to advise and grow a viable business. Located in the heart of downtown Edmonton, our TEC Centre is a business incubator, offering early-stage businesses a base for operations.

TEC Edmonton’s Entrepreneur Skills Development (ESD) Program is a new initiative at TEC Edmonton.  ESD leverages and links existing expertise at TEC Edmonton offering just-in-time applied education and training.  During each learning session participants ‘learn by doing’ so they can identify, set agendas for, and make decisions on their businesses’ priorities.  Seasoned business professionals are present during sessions to coach and mentor attendees.  All programs encourage the adoption of the entrepreneurial mindset and business acumen necessary to succeed in Alberta's research and innovation system.

As Manager of ESD, Noreen builds programs that optimize the learning experience for innovative SMEs, entrepreneur-minded students and researchers alike.  Noreen has over fifteen years of entrepreneurial experience as a consultant, university instructor and business owner.  Before arriving at TEC Edmonton, Noreen helped launch a number of start-up businesses (including two of her own) in Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia.
