Laura graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Masters in Business Administration, majoring in human resources and financial management, prior to which she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Geography: Urban Planning and Tourism Development) from the University of Victoria.  Her continuing education has focused on leadership development.

 

Laura is the CEO of Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan Inc., a position she has held since January 1, 1997.  Past positions have included the Saskatchewan Government, Attorney General’s office, and Western Economic Diversification Canada as a business development officer, strategic initiatives officer, and a policy development officer.

 

Laura is a Past President of the Board of Directors for the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce and Past Chair of the Board for Tourism Saskatoon.  She is also Past President of Business and Professional Women, Saskatoon. She has served for several years as a Chair of the Celebrate Success organizing committee, a Chamber of Commerce/Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan initiative that recognizes business achievement in the community.  In 2001 and 2004, she was a finalist for the ATHENA Award presented by the Chamber, and in 2002 she was a nominee in the Professions category of the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards.  In May 2006, she was recognized as one of the province’s most influential women in SaskBusiness Magazine. That same year, she was also named one of Saskatoon’s 100 People, 100 Reasons; a centennial initiative recognizing the people whose efforts make Saskatoon a great place to live.

 

Laura is currently completing her first term as a CCSBE Director for the Prairie region.
