A native of Prince Edward Island, Juanita grew up with a passion for life sciences. Her education coupled with her extensive experience has enabled her to help others better understand and also thrive within these vast science fields.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Production, and a Masters in Plant Science, Juanita would begin her lifelong journey of information sharing. Juanita has worked at both the Federal and Provincial levels. She has been involved in: data collection and statistical analysis; formulating annual publications; co-authoring numerous factsheets; writing project proposals and scientific research papers; assisting with budget management; participating in provincial strategic planning; and developing major industry development initiatives.
After almost fifteen years working within the provincial government, Juanita was presented with the opportunity to join the federal government (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency - ACOA). And here her passion has been thriving. Every day she has the opportunity to share knowledge with others and guide them to pursue their innovation goals.
Juanita provides advice on economic development to entrepreneurs and businesses, post-secondary institutions, and not-for-profit organizations. Both ACOA and Juanita recognize that entrepreneurs have the power to strengthen the Canadian economy by accelerating the development of a knowledge-based industry.
With her vast range of experience, Juanita would say that the key to success for entrepreneurs is not a secret. It’s Innovation. And, everyday she works tirelessly to ensure all of her clients have the best tools and resources available to succeed.
