
AVAC Ltd. is an Alberta-based investment company that invests in promising early-stage commercial ventures in value-added agri-business, information and communications technologies, life sciences, and other industrial technology sectors. It also manages an active early-stage venture capital fund-of-funds investment pool. AVAC’s mandate is to help bridge Alberta’s investment gap that exists between technology creation and commercial business success. As a hands-on investor the support AVAC offers through early stage investment and lasting partnerships helps turn innovative ideas into successful businesses.
As Alberta’s most active early-stage investment company, AVAC has invested $97 million directly into more than 120 promising early-stage technology companies and 50 commercially-relevant agricultural research projects and programs. A further $700 million of outside investment has been attracted to these early-stage companies. To date, AVAC has assisted 56 of its early-stage portfolio companies to reach commercial revenue. These companies have since generated sales of over $758 million. AVAC has also committed $32 million to four national venture capital funds who are actively investing in Alberta companies.
Ashley Green has been working with AVAC since 2008. Prior to working with AVAC, Ashley worked with National Wealth Management firm. She graduated from the University of Calgary in 2007 with a BA in General Studies and is currently completing a Bachelor of Commerce as well. Ashley currently looks at the new investments presented to AVAC.
