Startup Canada Fringe in Yarmouth

The Executive Director Chris Atwood and the staff from CBDC Yarmouth are proud to be part of the nationwide Startup Canada campaign that promotes and supports entrepreneurship. The CBDC Yarmouth is pleased to organizing a luncheon at the Rodd Grand Hotel in Yarmouth on Wednesday March 21st 2012, from 12pm-1.30pm.
With support from the Yarmouth & Area Chamber Of Commerce, the principal Mary Thomson from the NSCC Burridge Campus, other volunteer and entrepreneurs we are expecting a successful event.
Invited are students, business owner and entrepreneurs for networking and exchanging experiences. With the theme “Getting over to fear of becoming an entrepreneur” we hope to get to know more about the worries from students about entrepreneurship.
Our guest speaker Michael Sanderson is Manger for Skills Development & Training at the Sobeys School of Business. With more than 12 years of experience in entrepreneurship, economic development and professional training he will surely motivate the students to raise their voice and encourage them to ask the questions they have about entrepreneurship.
The format of the event will start with a short introduction from the Executive Director of CBDC Yarmouth Chris Atwood. Participants will be placed at tables of eight where students and entrepreneurs are mingled together for networking. During lunch everybody can listen to the interesting talk from Michael Sanderson about his path to entrepreneurship. Then the entrepreneurs will be asked to start the discussion with the students at the tables. The students receive a questionnaire at the beginning to fill out on which entrepreneurs can resort to. As last part a small panel discussion at a head table with our guest speaker and other entrepreneurs where they can give more tips and tricks to the students about entrepreneurship. Students are also allowed to ask further questions for sure.
