Startup Canada Board Members and Canadian entrepreneurs Lanis Anthony and Rivers Corbett are in Liverpool, UK this week to help lead collaborative discussions between multiple S

tartup Nations at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) happening March 9 – 14.

The event features some of the world’s best business minds, including Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Group and Martha Lane Fox of travel and leisure site lastminute.com, and has gathered entrepreneurs, thought-leaders, economists and policy-makers from more than 100 countries. Yesterday, Anthony and Corbett represented Startup Canada in a meeting with Startup America and Startup Britain to discuss challenges, successes and opportunities for further collaboration between their three groups.

“This is a promising start to what will be a long, and mutually beneficial relationship,” said Anthony, a Saskatchewan-based angel and entrepreneur. “This has been an excellent opportunity for Startup Canada to establish a stronger collaboration with its sister organizations. This is an important and strategic first step to a more effective and efficient deployment of our present, limited resources.”

Today, Startup Canada, Startup America and Startup Britain will meet with Startup Spain, Startup Malaysia, Startup Chile, and observers from other nations looking to join the global startup movement. The meeting will explore collaborative opportunities and support mechanisms for the development of Startup ‘X’ initiatives worldwide.
